Why Write a Will?

If you die without writing a Will you risk leaving your estate in the wrong hands, writing your Will can save your loved ones from financial problems and unnecessary expense at a time when there is enough upset and distress. Writing a Will can prevent family arguments at a time when emotions run high. In writing a Will you can secure the futures of those you leave behind and reduce your tax bill. It can also protect your assets from long term care fees whilst distributing your property in the way YOU want it done.

What if I don’t write a Will?

If you don’t decide the Government will.

If you die without a Will, your assets may be distributed according to the law rather than you making the decision, this could mean your partner receives less, or that money goes to either family members that may not need it or to one’s you had no intention of leaving it to. If you are not married your partner will NOT automatically inherit your estate, but if you have a Will you can make sure your partner is provided for. If you are separated or divorced then you can specify in a Will who should inherit your money, property and possessions.
